Foursys, recently acquired by Chess, has scooped its second award for 2017.

This time it was the marketing team’s turn to shine, taking the CRN Best Digital Marketing Innovation Award for the company’s innovative Foursys interactive Cybersecurity Risk Assessment Tool (or FiCRAT).

The award was presented at a prestigious gala awards ceremony on 29th June 2017 at London’s The Brewery.

The FiCRAT was created by Foursys in 2016 as a free-to-use online interactive portal. It provides IT administrators with a fast, vendor neutral and objective method of assessing their organisation’s cyber risk profile and managing online threats.

At the same time, the aim for Foursys itself was to create a marketing tool to gain industry insight and drive value to customers.

Andy Wool, Head of Marketing at Chess, which acquired Foursys in early 2017 explains:

““Our objective was to deliver a reliable tool to help assist customers with analysing their IT risk.

We wanted an ad and vendor free, bespoke report that could offer real value to organisations when recommending best practice in a number of core areas of cybersecurity”.

The Best Digital Marketing Innovation award was a new award category at the 2017 CRN Sales and Marketing Awards. The judges were looking for evidence of impact on new business and customer interactions, along with proven ROI and other measures of achievement and success.

Among other criteria, the judges also wanted to see testimonials as well as evidence of how the innovation helped Foursys stand out from the competition.

Speaking of winning the award win, Andy Wool commented:

“It means a massive amount to us to win this award after the hard work put in by our team on the development and implementation of our FiCRAT risk assessment tool. We see the FiCRAT as a valuable asset which can add value for organisations and create meaningful engagement with our brand. It appeals across multiple sectors and to businesses and public sector organisations of all sizes.

To come out on top is an extremely proud moment for all of us. I want to thank our internal team and our marketing partners for all the effort they put in.”

The FiCRAT is comprised of 12 cybersecurity modules which IT administrators progress through to assess and benchmark their organisation’s exposure to cyber risk. Once the risk assessment has been completed, the Foursys algorithm grades the organisation’s IT risk posture based on the answers that were provided in each module, which in turns allows a detailed risk report to be created. Foursys has seen strong engagement from its target audience with in excess of 1000 downloads of the toolkit.

Speaking of his organisation’s use of the FiCRAT, Adrian Fradley, Principal IT Support Engineer, Aircraft Research Association commented:

“We found the Foursys Online Risk Assessment tool to be invaluable in helping to inform our Cyber Security programme and to introduce us to new, potential security tools and solutions.

We also really benefited from the follow-up meeting where our engineers were able to discuss the findings with Foursys and ensure the recommendations were appropriate to our specific needs and environment.”
